PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography is one of my oldest artistic pursuits, starting with black and white film at the age of eleven. I was fortunate enough to receive weekly lessons from a studio photographer, who also sold my family her old darkroom equipment when she closed her studio to work from home. We constructed a darkroom in my basement and continued our lessons from my home, an experience that I am certain played an instrumental role in cementing my sensibilities in composition and framing. Said darkroom is no longer functional, but its impact remains.
It wasn't until much later I learned to utilize digital mediums, including the use of a DSLR, adobe lightroom, and photoshop. Since then however I have invested myself heavily in the editing process and even have a work-flow of sorts in terms of optimizing my photos and a process while taking the pictures beforehand.
I would mainly categorize my specialties with landscape and blur attributed to motion with high color contrast. I am also proficient with texture and detailed closeup shots utilizing a telephoto lens.
I have also dabbled in composites, merging several pictures together for the purpose of panoramas and image collages to construct otherworldly scenes. I hope to practice this method more in the future, as I have found it an extremely challenging yet rewarding experience.
